August is Child Support Awareness Month in California. If your driver license is suspended because of child support debt, you may be able to buy it back and “Get Back on the Road Again." Contact your local Department of Child Support Services office and ask if you are eligible. Click here for more.
Note: Local Child Support Agencies cannot release licenses suspended for obligations owed to other agencies. Additional fees may be assessed by the licensing agency.

I DO AGREE THAT THERE ARE A LOT OF DEAD BEAT PARENTS BUT THE DRIVER,S LICENCE PUNISHMENT IS JUST DOWN RIGHT STUPID. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A NON CUSTODIAL PARENT HAS LOST HIS JOB OF OVER 12 YEARS AND IN THAT TIME HE HAS BEEN A GOOD FATHER JUST BECAUSE THE FAMILY ARE NOT TOGETHER DOSE NOT JUSTIFY. FURTHER INJURY TO THE NON CUSTODIAL PARENT TO PREVENTING HIM OR HER FROM DRIVING TO SEEK NEW EMPLOYMENT OR IN OTHER WORD,S TO SEE HIS KIDS AND HE HAS A VEHICLE TO DO SO. I THINK EVERY CASE IS DIFFERENT IN NATURE AND SHOULD BE TREATED AS SUCH. AND THOSE THAT ARE IN THE ARREARS SHOULD HAVE TO GO TO COURT AND SHOW WHY HE HAS NOT PAID IF THERE IS A GOOD REASON SUCH AS LOST OF JOB, DISABILITY THAN THE COURTS SHOULD WORK WITH BOTH PARENT TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. THIS IS NOT A COMMUNIST COUNTRY OR IS IT?

I do think the law needs to be a lot more adaptable with regard to monetary aid. I have witnessed a large number of people being affected by the financial catastrophe and they simply can not supply what they used to provide their kids. As long as you can rationalize in court that you're seeking to provide as much as you can for your kids then that should be enough.
